This year's Orange Blossom Festival features a month of community events within the Hills that runs from 1-30 September 2018. The Orange Blossom Festival Day will be held on Sunday 16 September at Bella Vista Farm.

Pawsitive Steps Towards Mental Health and Wellbeing Expo

About: For fitness lovers, those just starting out with exercise or for those looking at things to do with their dog or kids - come along to the Pawsitive Steps Towards Mental Health event this year - you won't be disappointed. There will be lots of merchandise on offer and lots of dog activities and demonstrations.

The Positive Vibes Foundation's goal is to embrace a holistic approach with targeted intervention programs to address the tragedy of suicide, mental illness and well-being at home, work and in the community.

Bella Vista Farm Open Day

About: The doors of the historic homestead are being thrown open with tours by The Friends of Bella Vista. Our volunteers from the Friends of Bella Vista farm are available to chat and answer any questions about the Farm and its history. Also relax in the gardens of the Farm or bring a family picnic lunch to enjoy. Explore the homestead and farm buildings.

You can also pick up a treat from the Free Spirit Markets while you're there and enjoy a stroll around this beautiful slice of heritage in The Sydney Hills.

Seniors Dance

The Art of Bonsai

Orange Blossom Festival

About: Council’s Orange Blossom Festival event will showcase the best of the Hills community and include lots of fun, interactive and engaging activities for little kids, big kids, youth and adults. There will be roving entertainment, games, amusement rides, food and community stalls, all with an orange theme.

This event will be set out in zones to assist patrons to flow through the site, engage with the community groups and explore the activities on offer.

The zones will include:

  • Pipsqueaks (new zone) - A special zone for toddlers with ball pits, activity gardens, rockers and rides, slides, games, tents and tunnels, activity gyms and lots more.
  • Pippa’s Playland - An area for kids with face painting, balloon twisting, workshops and games, a pop up library, petting zoo, craft and more.
  • OZone  - A Youth Zone with amusement rides and engaging activities for the teenagers including breakdancing, DJ’s, rock climbing wall and a silent disco.
  • Community Grove - A showcase of community groups and associations in the Hills. There will be information available from all of the community groups as well as engaging and interactive activities
  • Active Zest - An opportunity to be active and get involved in local sporting clubs featuring AFL, NRL, touch football, soccer, cricket, netball, baseball and more.
  • Local Blooms Stage - The stage will showcase talent from local schools as well as a kids entertainment show and meet and greet Green Thumbs. A zone for the whole family to enjoy learning about gardens and conservation, kids can get their hands dirty by taking part in an edible garden workshop, planting their own seeds and get creative with nature play.
  • Food Trucks - A number of food trucks offering a wide variety of tasty food option.

 


 

Jazz At The Pines

The Hills Women’s Shed Walk

About: The Hills Women’s Shed, under the auspices of Positive Vibes Foundation, is launching a sustainable recreation activity of walking and jogging that encourages participation across all ages. The community focused activity shares Orange Blossom Festival spirit by forming a platform for local community to interact and engage with each other. It also generates a sense of community pride and involvement.

Recreation activity, such as walking/jogging organised in a predictable manner, can be a vehicle for positive social change. Walking at designated time on a designated day helps to bind families through shared experiences and shared achievements. Through participation, walking helps minimising anti-social behaviour.

BMX NSW State Championships – Castle Hill BMX Track

About: The BMX NSW State Championships is the biggest event on the BMX calendar in NSW with up 700 Riders competing for State Plates for the age for both 24" & 20" class BMX bikes. Crowds of up to 2500 people will be there to watch. The racing will be fast, styling and aggressive.
